Ian Bookman, MD is a gastroenterologist in Toronto who specializes in diseases of the digestive system, including general gastroenterology, hepatology (the study of the liver) and endoscopy. Dr. Bookman provides patient care and performs endoscopic procedures at St. Joseph’s Health Centre as well as at the Kensington Screening Clinic. He received his medical degree and fellowships in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology from the University of Toronto, and is also certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He completed a research grant in hepatology at the University of Sydney in Sydney, Australia as well as a fellowship at the University of Barcelona in Barcelona, Spain. Dr. Bookman is an Adjunct Assistant Professor with the University of Toronto, and was the recipient of the St. Joseph’s Health Centre Best Clinical Teacher Award. He is the Medical Director of the Kensington Screening Centre, a nonprofit independent health facility devoted toward improving patient care. Dr. Bookman founded the charity Bum Run to raise awareness of colon cancer screening and prevention.
